Autoaddress Wins Irish Postcode Tender

We’re delighted to confirm that we are members of the winning Consortium to design, develop and roll out a unique postcode for every address in Ireland. The Consortium is comprised of Capita Ireland, Autoaddress and BearingPoint.

Autoaddress is providing our specialist address intelligence expertise to the project, and are responsible for designing the postcode format (that’s the easy bit!), building the address database, assigning the postcodes to every address, postcoding millions of public sector database addresses, etc. In short, we’re extremely busy! Our postcode team began work last November.

We are keen to get the message out to Irish businesses that preparation for postcodes should focus on seeking to exploit its business potential. Postcodes will have a major impact on Business Intelligence and Customer Service operations. Existing IT systems will need to be upgraded, and careful planning is required to ensure a successful migration to a new “postcoded” Ireland. Adoption rates by consumers knowing and using their postcodes is likely to be surprisingly high, and solutions need to be implemented in 2014 to be properly prepared. We are actively engaged with a number of partners to ensure this task is achieved.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our existing customers for your faith and support for our unique technology over the last few years. Without you we wouldn’t be part of this historic project. 2013 was a great year for Autoaddress, and we added another twelve staff to our team. We expect to add more in 2014 to ensure we can deliver postcodes while continuing to provide address solutions to our customers.

We will ensure that the transition to postcodes on Postcode Launch Day in 2015 will be a simple process for Autoaddress customers.

Exciting times ahead!
